The owl and the falcon's been a few hours since my last rant and I have calmed down or I'm just in "I don't give a rat's ass" about my studies at this very moment. I know I shouldn't be complaining because I am so fortunate to be studying in the first place...sometimes the frustration of incompetent systems just get the better of me.

Let me tell you what happened this morning...

As I was driving to work this morning listening to the radio, the team had their "zen" moment where you listen to relaxing music (think the sound of birds chirping and the soothing sound of a flowing river) and take in your surroundings and appreciate the beauty….see the beauty (and tell them about it).
So here I was driving on the N1, close to the off-ramp just around the corner from my work, there are squatters on the side of the road and I figured that can't possibly be the beauty I see today? Despite the extremely cold weather these poor people somehow managed to build themselves some shelter. They are surely cold, and wet…perhaps?
But in the split second of glancing to the left, just after the squatter tents there is a fence and on the fence, quietly, sat a small falcon or an owl. I couldn't be sure because eyes must be on the road! :)

I looked back again. Majestically, it just sat there and gazed across the field.
That was the beautiful moment I experienced this morning.
Probably would have missed it, if I didn’t look for it. And that is just it….there is ALWAYS something beautiful in this world. Despite all the violence and hatred and pollution and an educational system that fails us…there is beauty…just waiting to be seen, to be discovered.

How beautiful is that!

PS. Maybe I saw it for a reason...although I can't be sure which predatory bird it was, let's look at the "meaning of both..."

An owl: A symbol of higher wisdom.
A falcon: A solar emblem of success, victory and rising above a situation.

Let's hope I'll be successful in my quest to register for the second semester, rising above this frustrating situation and acquiring the wisdom of an owl in the end!
