I was running in Tygerberg Nature Reserve this past Sunday to clear the mind and work those legs. Ok, perhaps more walking with the gradient hills and taking in the sights and the sounds of nature. As my mind became more quiet and aware it struck me that the trail paths resembles the paths God intended for us to take.
Every trail runner/hiker knows that you need to stay on the marked paths, if you wander off and take the wrong turn you are most likely going to get lost or hurt. And sometimes the trails have smaller paths that snakes from it, but eventually it joins the bigger, known path.
Along the way you will have signs to follow. Follow a particular path and you will end up with a destination in mind. Unfortunately in life it doesn’t always work like that. God might have this particular path set out for you, but only He knows that path. He still gave you free will to make your own choices. If you wander too far, or further away from Him, you stand the risk of being hurt.
But that is also how you learn. If you didn’t wander down that crooked path, fell down, crawled, cried…with grazed knees, you might not have learned that valuable lesson.
That is the beauty of life and the choices you make…
How is your trail path looking? Dangers lurking around the bend or are you seeing the beauty and feeling confident in the choices you made?
